Facebook provides more control over Off-Facebook activity

Facebook has announced a new update which will allow users to hide their browsing history from Facebook.

Off-Facebook activity allows Facebook to track what apps and websites users browse to give them more personalized and adequate ads.

Currently, this feature is available only in Ireland, South Korea, and Spain.

Facebook product manager Stephanie Max expect a potential revenue drop due to the introduction of these new privacy settings.

The user history will, however, be stored for 48 hours before being deleted as Facebook claims: “Your future off-Facebook activity will be disconnected within 48 hours from when it’s received. During this time it may be used for measurement purposes and to make improvements to our ads systems.”

This new report signals growing focus on combating advertising fraud

New report from PubMatic shows that mobile ad impressions jumped 26% year-on-year.

iOS impressions account for over 50% of the new total, comparing to 33% a year earlier.

 

The growth spurt was mostly caused by an increase in video consumption, though 28% of marketers still report difficulty integrating in-app videos. The report shows that video significantly increases in-app purchases, particularly during political events.

A new trend among advertisers when they start favoring private marketplaces (PMPs) because of mobile ad fraud in open markets.
