Dating apps prove popular in China during Covid-19 outbreak

According to leading Chinese dating app Tantan, average time spent on the app increased by 30% since February. Mainly features like livestreaming and short videos attract the growing public.

The number of active users even reaches up to 60% during peak hours. While number of messages and matches increases by 20%

Other dating sites like Zhenai.com claimed said its active users reaching 10M during the lockdown. Moreover, Baihe Jiayuan Network Group says video and livestreaming services helped them get 30% more active users today.

Matchmaking experts are helping singles forge digital connections

During the Covid lockdown, most of the traditional matchmakers suffer lack of new clients.

Some of the agencies, however, managed to modify their business processes through the Internet, instead of real life experience. For example ‘Preferred Match’ from Toronto, USA.

This agency offers video dating introductions, speed dating events through FirstDate platform, and live weekly matchmaking events.

Celebrity matchmaker Carmelia Ray says “I think singles are getting pretty antsy and those who were initially opposed to a FaceTime date are now open to it, given the circumstances.”

Match introduces ‘Vibe Check’ video dating feature

Match has added a new feature Vibe Check  that allows users to have video chat inside the app.

Once users are matched, they’ll see an icon to start a video call. Once agreed to the terms and conditions, they can request a Vibe Check call.
