Online dating in Japan is growing rapidly amid a global boom
The latest data from app trackers show that dating app consumers in Japan spent $120M over the first part of 2019. Which is the same number they previously spent over the years 2017-2018.
According to App Annie’s report, Pairs was the most grossing app in Japan in 2019.
Online daters looking for more than endless swiping
Dating industry leaders claim that app users, nowadays, are already tired of endless swiping.
For example, Hinge removed swiping in 2016 to encourage better personal connections. The Inner Circle hosts offline events with 2+M attendees. They also plan to add an auto-reply to anyone who starts the conversation with only “Hi”.

According to the latest survey from Gleeden, a French dating community with 800,000 active users in India, 53% of Indian women were in an intimate relationship outside marriage.
