Bumble and Serena Ventures invest in AI ‘Alice’

Bumble and tennis star Serena Williams’ company announced their collaboration in the AI-driven business platform ‘Alice’.

There are other joint investors such as SVB Financial Group, Jean Case, Phyllis Newhouse, Shatter Fund, and Signia Venture Partners.

“Alice could not be a better fit for Bumble as we expand on our mission to create empowering connections in people’s work lives as well as their personal relationships,” said Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd.

Yubo aims to become Gen Z focused social platform

Social and streaming app Yubo positions oneself as a main generation Z social platform.

The latest round of fundraising was closed with 12.3 million secured.

Yubo is currently present only in North America and Europe but plans to expand to South America and Asia.

CEO and co-founder Sacha Lazimi told Silicon Canals: “Yubo is a response to a fundamental need of Generation Z: socializing and creating friendships in the digital world in the exact same way as in real life. This funding round will let us reach new technological milestones and further our international footprint.”

Is Tinder really a hook-up app?

A team of Norway psychologists conducted a study to find out whether people use Tinder simply for one-night stands or not.

According to their data, out of 250 Tinder users: only 50% had met with Tinder match. 20% experienced a one-night stand with a match; 25% had met someone who was interested in a long-term relationship.

Overall, 80% of Tinder users reported that the app hadn’t led to a sexual relationship of any kind.
