Bumble CEO: Dating in the age of Covid

CNN’s ‘Boss Files’ podcast hosted an interview with Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd about dating during and after the Coronavirus.

First of all, Whitney said that the biggest challenge dating industry had to overcome is singles not being able to meet offline and can only use virtual communication.

Wolfe Herd explained: “We facilitate connection, so we had to ensure that people weren’t meeting in real life, encouraging users to make the most of our virtual features.”

The second topic was that although many business got their finances affected by Covid in a negative way, dating industry still managed to grow.

The Bumble founder added: “Bumble has just had its best two week revenue, during the worst economic state in US history. The reason for this is because people need human connection during this time, and we are really one of the only current gateways to that.”

Virtual events on Christian dating sites

Christian Connection, a faith-based dating service, now starts hosting virtual events to help engage their site members.

Since the lockdown, the site saw 25% more registrations and 50% more conversations, comparing to the previous months.

Virtual events are hosted so site members could converse with other singles over the video chat.

 

 

Fairytrail app to offer travel-centric virtual dates with Viator and Airbnb

Dating app Fairytrail started offering virtual adventures powered by Airbnb and Viator.

The app offers virtual tours that depend on profiles of people who got matched. If the singles chose the same tours, they’ll be able to chat and book the tours.
